Pick1 is live with a new great feature which strengthen the multi-touchpoint approach

One of the aspects that makes the surveys made by Pick1 very powerful is the multi-touchpoint approach: just create a survey and then you can connect it on top of your existing end-point channels : a webpage, the Facebook Page, in a forum, inside a mail.

Starting from today we are live with a new touchpoint: the video! Yeah! you have well understood: starting from now we are able to embed a poll inside a video. And there is a lot more: this video could be a video published on YouTube! This means that you could use not only the visitors of your websites, not only the fans of your fanpage, not only for the followers of your Twitter account, but also inside the huge YouTube user-base to collect votes and opinions!

You can find here two live examples of this amazing technology inside a YouTube Video with a poll embedded:

We made this for Lega, an Italian party, during the 2013 political campaign.

Do you want to know more about this new multi-touchpoint and how you can access to it? Drop us a line: info@pick.com

In the past weeks, we have shown you how simple is to create your Pick1 surveys. Today we are going to move further, and explain how the information your retrieve from the surveys are really valuable to you.

We are at the beginning of the “data-driven era”, and in the next two year every manager will be expected to know what  is the meaning of the words “big data” and how to use them to drive sales, marketing strategies and corporate decisions. And in the next two years tools like Pick1 will be part of corporate strategies, used to retrieve important data and information, and then used to make decisions. For this reason, we suggest you to start learning right now how valuable are the information and the data our surveys could reveal you.

A survey could be used mainly to retrieve data which is interesting in three types of analysis:

  • Descriptive Data Analysis
  • Exploratory Data Analysis
  • Inferential Data Analysis

The Descriptive Data Analysis:

With the Descriptive Data Analysis our goal is to take a snapshot of a well defined group of people. This group of people could be our Facebook Fanbase, our customer base, our prospects, etc. We do not want to understand “things” about that people. We just want to have a precise and well defined idea about who they are.

The Exploratory Data Analysis:

With the Exploratory Data Analysis our goal is to find something we do not know, looking at a group of people. Does this sounds “strange”? Not at all: you have a huge dataset concerning people and their opinions. You can have a clear picture of the data you have collected (descriptive data analysis), but you can also try to see the dataset through different data-visualization graph in order to find patterns, recurring behaviours, stuff like this. This is the Exploratory Data Analysis. You collect an interesting amount of data through your survey, and applying at this dataset the Exploratory Data Analysis you are able to understand things you could have never figured out  without. This is extremely powerful.

The Inferential Data Analysis:

The goal of an Inferential Data Analysis is to make predictions/inferences about a population from observations and analyses of a sample. Makes sense: we cannot have the data concerning the whole population we are interested in. But we can ask question to a small partition of this population, and then build a generalization of the results. With Pick1 we can create a survey asking people if they prefer move by car, by train or by bus. Looking at the result we can take a subset of the replies, composed only by the replies which comes from people from 20 to 25 years old who lives in Milan. We find out that this segment prefer move by bus. So we can assume that the whole population composed by 20-25 years old who lives in Milan prefer to move by bus. Again, with inferential data analysis we can achieve great, valuable, results.

In this article Pick1 explains you how to improve the design of your survey, placing your brand-logo, changing the background and other details.

Well, we have created our first poll and set-up the strategy for make it viral. But its look is not extremely good and engaging…

Our survey deserves more, and with Pick1, we can style it with a better design!

Let’s start: pick your survey from the list in your Pick1’s dashboard and click the Edit button:

Go to Visual Theme: here is where you can set up the graphic details of your survey.

To change the background of your poll, simply drag and drop the image you want as background of your survey into the box and wait some seconds. This is what will happen:

But we want to show also the logo of our website. Again, drag and drop your logo in the box “Logo”:

And now, the last design-touch: we are going to change the border of the box containing our poll. We want it to be in dark-green. Click the “Box border” option and a palette picker will appear:

Now click Save and then Publish

This is the final result:

Definitely better than the first design, right? ;-)

In this article Pick1 explain you how to help your surveys becoming viral thanks to the Advanced Settings offered by Pick1 Platform

Some days ago we have faced how to create a new poll and publish it on your Facebook Page. The goal we wanted to achieve was to build engagement in order to increase the EdgeRank of your Facebook Page. And we obviously succeeded ;-)

Today we are going to explore two great tips to make the poll more spreadable on the social networks. Setting-up the poll and publishing it is not enough: You want your poll to be viewed by the highest number of people, and you’d also want your survey to be shared by more people who feel engaged and will answer it, that’s why a well formatted survey is important in order to attract the attention and curiosity of people’s friends.

Let’s start: pick your survey from the list in your Pick1’s dashboard and click the Edit button:

Go to Advanced Settings: here is where you can set up the survey’s sharing options. Be sure that the “Never” option is not checked. We suggest you to choose the option “When the first question is answered”.

Here comes the trick: let’s setup the details of the shared link. Click on Customize Facebook Fields and you will be able to change the information that will be shared on Facebook. Choose a title, a description, an image and the message associated to the shared link! Now it’s your turn: write a brief description to describe your survey in order to engage who read it!

This is an example how I customized my poll to be shared:

In this article Pick1 – the profiling, retargeting and engagement tool – tells you how to generate Engagement and strengthen the EdgeRank of your Facebook Page

Community Managers: the situation

Facebook Fan Pages are more than a simple sequence or feed of statuses from fans
with no room for Community Managers to interact with their users base.
Todays, Community Managers have a powerful tool to communicate with their fans, they have the Rich Web, where everyone can share pics, videos, media and, of course, posts and statuses.
Fan Pages are now more flexibles than ever to get the maximum out from your marketing and communication strategy.

Statistics show that users are engaged with tons of Fan Pages on a daily basis, so they demand to have a very cool fan page to find it very special and interact with it. Your best strategy is to get that match between your users and your fan page starting from day one, this is why a direct question, a survey or a poll is the best way to engage users, to have them love your brand, your product or your service, because they will understand you care about what they think about you.

Polls Engagement = EdgeRank!

To establish the “active link” between a fan and your Fan Page, you should use Pick1’s Survey, the tool which will become your best friend. When a user land on your Fan Page, he/she will see an intriguing question, which they feel engaging themselves to a reply. Now you’ve built a connection with that person.
You know what this means?

  1. The user has established a connection with your Fan Page, and from this moment you are closer to him;
  2. Facebook has seen this interaction between your Fan Page and that user, which means that in the future Facebook will show to the User more contents from your page. Why? Facebook supposes that the User is interested in your page;
  3. Facebook will also start giving more “weight” to what you will publish on your Fan Page: infact Facebook understood that someone interacted with your content and this means your content is valuable! In the social jargon it is said he has given a higher EdgeRank to your page. One of the goals of every community manager should be to increase the EdgeRank of his page!

Create a survey for your Facebook Page

Once you have registered on Pick1, click the button “Create a New Survey”

Add the first question. In this example I created a “multiple choice” question, which means users can pick multiple answers from a set I provided

Add the possible answers:

Add other questions, clicking on “Add new Question”

After adding the questions and the optional answers you are here:

It’s time to set the message that will be shown at the end of the survey. In this case, it’s a simple thank you message. Click on Completion Page and:

In Advanced Options you can decide if you would like the user to share on his/her Facebook Wall the “he just answered the survey”.
This is optional but that could improve your chances to engage more user’s friends by word of mouth

Now click on the General Info tab for setting the name of our survey:

The final step is to save, publish and share the survey choosing among a unique survey link, or embed the survey in your website using a widget (code provided by Pick1, just cut and paste in your html page code) or post it directly on Facebook. Click on “Save and Publish“:

The goal of this example is to show hot to integrate a survey into a Facebook Fan Page and collect the users graph of those who replied, so I choose the “Add to Facebook Page” option and then clicking the red button “Install in new page”.

A window will pop up letting me decide on which Fan Page I want to publish my survey.

The survey is now online in your Fan Page!

We’ve been working very hard lately to deliver a tool to really exploit your audience opinions, to really give the right important value to people choices. There are two different worlds out there: on one side the traditional market research approach, slow and expensive, totally out of time; on the other side the online polling system, that only let you create a set of questions, something which is a commodity today. We’re in the sweet spot between these two worlds, focusing not only on letting you create *social* questions, but also in enabling you to exploit the *answers*.

Smart huh? Strange enough that no one else is doing that (or maybe not, this is a topic for another post), but good news is that from today on you can do that… with Pick1. Also, showcasing at the most important events worldwide is helping us to spread the news about that. The last two events are Ad:Tech and the Web Dublin Summit. Amazing events, no need to underline it. Enjoy our top-trending pitch of “how to seduce a woman” with Pick1 (top trending on Linkedin and SlideShare):

We are amazingly excited and happy to announce that we are part of the 500 Startups accelerator program!

If you weren’t living under a stone in the previous days, you probably heard the news: Pick1 joined 500Startups accelerator program! You can find here a quick recap of how much resonance the announcement of the 5th batch got worldwide. Needless to say, we are tremendously excited of being part of one of the three most important accelerators worldwide; things are starting to move pretty fast around here (deals, upgrades, funding, and more) but this for sure qualify as one of the most relevant things up to date. Serendipity, would say someone.

Being part of 500Startups is beyond awesome also because you are joining a family where everybody helps each other, advice each other, support each other. Plus there is a wealth of resources that supercharge your effort. “Blowing up startups since 2010”, right? You see every fu**ing day (yeah, you’ll hear a lot the ‘F word’ there) unbelievable mentors walking in, looking for you, and saying “so: how can I help you?”. Just to give you an idea, only in one day: the 8th employee of Freebase, the CFO of WildFire, a Google Guy that invested in WildFire and Twilio.

It’s a responsibility as well, because only the bravest and the toughest survive, and from now on we are a 500Startups’ Company (as WildFire itself and – to make another example – a small company you heard of maybe: Twilio), but as they say: when the going gets tough, the tough get going. We thought it was time that we got a press area to share relevant updates and some tutorials on how to get the best out of our kick-ass product, so hope you enjoy. Of course, please feel free to drop us a line anytime, we’ll be more than happy to hear from you.

What can we offer to you? Have a look to our value proposition!
